Institute of Clinical Bioethics Health Promoter

Height and Weight Station

Welcome to the Height and Weight Station, where your journey to better health begins

When someone enters the Health Promoter, they are greeted and given a pamphlet that is filled out with information from every station and presented to the resident. The patient is directed to the Body Mass Index (BMI) station, which measures height, weight, and BMI.

The Process: Unveiling Your Health Metrics

1. Preparation for Accuracy:

The patient is asked to set down bags, take off heavy coats, take things out of their pockets, take off hats, and remove their shoes.

2. Standing Tall:

The patient stands on the scale with their back to the stadiometer, standing as tall as possible. The weight and height are recorded.

3. BMI Calculation:

The “BMI” feature of the scale is used to calculate the patient’s body mass index. BMI demonstrates the relationship between an individual’s height and weight, and whether or not they are within a healthy range.

4. Hip and Waist Measurements:

Using a sewing tape measure, we take hip and waist measurements. These additional metrics play a vital role in calculating your Interheart Health Score.
